The 3 graduation ceremony of PAUWES took place on Monday 1st October 2018 at SNV auditorium of the University of Tlemcen
In all 79 students were awarded various master of Science degree in their respective track of water and Energy (policy and Engineering)
The memorable event was attended by high ranking officials from the African Union, Algerian government, the German government, directors of PAU institutes and various partners and stakeholders of PAUWES.
In the opening address by the director of the institute-Prof Zerga, he praised the graduating cohort for their steadfastness and dedication to hard work. Her Excellency
Ambassador Sarah Agbor, AU Commissioner for Human Resources, Science and Technology charged the graduates to be creators of jobs and not just job seekers. Her challenging speech to the graduates drew wild applause from everyone seated in the packed auditorium.
The German Ambassador to Algeria Her Excellency Ulrike Maeia Knotz also reaffirmed the position of the German government in supporting higher education in Africa especially PAUWES. Prof.Pierre Dominique Nzinzi, President of Pan African University Council also assured that, the African Union’s commitment towards the success of all PAU institutes across the continent.
PAUWES in her five years of existence has trained disciplined experts in the field of water and Energy with the high hopes of its graduates becoming the solution to the continents unending challenging in water and energy. This goal is being achieved through diversity and gender mainstreaming which has become a hallmark of the PAUWES institute. For 2019/20 student intake, the institute achieved gender parity with 50% males and 50% females coming from 32 different countries across the continent. It’s the hope of all stakeholders to see graduates of PAUWES students making the change across the continent.
The four-hour graduation ceremony came to an end with pictures session and dinner with all students, the staff of PAUWES, an invite guests.
