
Progress research and evidence-based policy recommendation in Water and Energy tackling Climate Change issues in West Africa on January 20th-31st, 2020 Organized by PAUWES, WASCAL and ZEF
The Pan African University Institute of Water and Energy Sciences (including Climate Change) (PAUWES), one of the five hubs of the Pan African University (PAU) hosted at the University of Tlemcen in Algeria, WASCAL (West African Science Service Centre on Climate Change and Adapted Land Use) a large-scale research-focused on Climate Service Centre and ZEF (Center for Development Research) in Bonn (Germany) are three collaborative institutions complementing each other’s effort towards building capacity and research in the field of water, energy and climate change in West Africa. The close cooperation and partnership of PAUWES, WASCAL and ZEF is of central importance for achieving the jointly desired goals during the term of this project from 2018 to 2020, funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research of Germany (BMBF).
As part of this collaboration, aimed at creating synergies, permitting contents diversification and fostering internationalization by providing PAUWES and Wascal students a platform to interact, learn from each other and create a scientific network for the future, a twelve-Days Winter School will be organised by PAUWES from 20th to 31st January 2020 on the campus Chetouane of the Abou Bekr Belkaid University of Tlemcen, Algeria. Ten students from each of the two WASCAL-GSPs (Graduate Studies Program) from Benin (Université d’Abomey-Calavi in Cotonou) and Niger (Université Abdou Moumouni in Niamey) and ten selected PAUWES students will attend the winter school. The main objectives of the winter school are to present and summarize the results of the progress research and evidence base policy recommendation in Water, Energy and Climate change.
You are invited to submit a proposal (Click here to download the template) for your lecture in the field of Water, Energy and Climate change, structured according to the attached template, a motivation letter and Curriculum Vitae (Resume), all sent to: sidimohamed.chabane@pauwes.dz. Lectures are taught in English. The submission deadline is December, 20th 2019.
The organizers will cover costs of flight, accommodation, meals and ground transportation. They shall pay honorarium to Lecturer for services rendered. The honorarium shall be paid at an hourly rate of 70.00 Euros for foreign lecturers and of an equivalent of 70.00 Euros in local currency at the prevailing exchange rate, for Algerian lecturers.
