PAUWES welcomed and was honoured to host today 02/02/2023 the President of The PAN African Parliament, His Excellency Fortune Z. Charumbira and his delegation.
The honourable delegation was welcomed by Professor Abdellatif Zerga, Director of PAUWES, his staff and students and Professor Meghachou Mourad, Rector of the University of Tlemcen, his staff and Mr Mermouri Moumen, Wali of Wilaya of Tlemcen accompanied by the President of the Wilaya People’s Assembly and the local civil and security authorities.
The Pan African Parliament sited in Midrand, South Africa, is intended as a platform for people from all African states to be involved in discussions and decision making on the problems and challenges facing the continent.
The visit started by a welcome song performed by PAUWES students “ Welcome to PAUWES……Remember Us!” the students sang.
His Excellency Fortune Z. Charumbira gave the floor to his delegation to present themselves, then he opened the speech by stating the role of Algeria in the permanent support towards the continent “…Great country, Unic Algeria…” He recalled and focused on the role that Algeria is playing in making the stay of The PAUWES students an unforgettable experience by covering their scholarship (accommodation, transport, restauration, medical insurance…etc).
His Excellency Fortune Z. Charumbira, PAP President explained the reason of the Parliement delegation’s visit where he declared “ our educational systems should be improved…” where he invited two PAUWES students to the parliament as African change leaders in Education.
Professor Abdellatif Zerga, The Director Of PAUWES presented the achievements and challenges of PAUWES, the Pan-African academic institution of quality, relevance, excellence, independence, and credibility. Porfessor Zerga then recalled on the role of the institute which is always open to international partners, collaborators and support.
Later on, Professor Meghachou Morad, Rector of University of Tlemcen highlighted the pioneering role of the University in training, scientific research, internationalization and recalled on the full support for PAUWES.
The visit was closed by a PAUWES student’s traditional clothes presentation, the 05 regions of Africa were represented.
