A two-day coordination meeting in the frame of the WP5 LEAP-RE Project with our partners from LGI (France)- POLIMI (Italy) Strathmore University (Kenya) – MESRS (Algeria) – DSI (South Africa) was organised at PAUWES on the 20th and 21st of March 2023. The meeting was an opportunity for us to come together and discuss our progress on the project, as well as to plan for the next phases.
The LEAP6RE is a consortium of 83 partners from European and African countries; a Long-term Europe-Africa Partnership on Renewable Energy (LEAP-RE) programme co-funded by the European Union (EU) under Horizon 2020 aims to increase the use of renewable energy via a well-balanced set of research, demonstration, and technology transfer projects in both continents;
LEAP-RE is structured around three Pillars: Pillar1, the focus of this call, comprises the implementation of transnational proposals for research, innovation and capacity building, funded by national/regional funding agencies and by the EU; Pillar2, is a cluster of individual R&I and capacity building projects implemented by members of the consortium, whilst Pillar3 focuses on program management and the design of a long term AU – EU strategic partnership on renewable energy.
During the meeting, all partners reviewed the objectives of WP5, which focuses on the development of innovative tools and strategies for the integration of renewable energy sources into the grid. Some discussions were on the latest research and findings from our partners, and exploring ways to collaborate more closely in the future.
This meeting is an important step in advancing our collective mission of promoting sustainable energy solutions, and we look forward to the productive discussions and outcomes that will result from this gathering. Stay tuned for updates on our progress!
