PAUWES was invited to the Conference to celebrate World Water Day 2023 organised by the University of Tlemcen, department of hydraulics where Professor Abdelabki Cherifa, Water Program Coordinator made a presentation entitled Water and climate change in Africa: PAUWES’s contributions.
We joined the global community in celebrating World Water Day. This annual event, recognized on March 22nd, is an opportunity to raise awareness about the importance of water and advocate for sustainable management of this vital resource.
This year’s theme “Accelerating Change – Pure Water for the World” highlights the urgent need to address the global water crisis and accelerate efforts to provide clean water to all. Access to clean water is a basic human right and critical for ensuring public health and well-being. However, millions of people still lack access to safe drinking water, and waterborne diseases remain a leading cause of death worldwide. Addressing this crisis requires bold action to invest in infrastructure, technologies, and policies that prioritize water conservation and protect water resources. We must work together to accelerate progress and ensure that every person has access to the pure water they need to thrive.
As we celebrate World Water Day, we reflect on the vital role that water plays in our daily lives and commit to protecting and preserving it for future generations. We encourage everyone to take action in their communities by conserving water, supporting sustainable water management practices, and advocating for equitable access to clean water for all.
Join us in celebrating World Water Day and in our shared commitment to valuing and protecting this precious resource. Together, we can make a difference!
